The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Vocational Graded syllabus is a specialised and intensive training programme for students aged P6 and above who are considering a future in dance, either professionally or as a teacher.
Unlike the RAD Graded syllabus (Grades 1–8), which offers a broader and more recreational approach, the Vocational pathway focuses on developing a high level of technical skill, artistry, and pointe work.
Before entering the Vocational Graded syllabus, we offer Vocational Preparation classes designed to support younger dancers who are working towards this pathway.
Vocational Preparation (Primary 6 and above)
These classes help prepare students for the transition into vocational training by developing strength, technique, and discipline.

Intermediate Foundation (Age 11+)
Introduction to pointe work and development of core technique
150 guided learning hours + 125 additional learning hours
Intermediate (Age 12+)
150 guided learning hours + 125 additional learning hours
Advanced Foundation (Age 13+)
150 guided learning hours + 125 additional learning hours
Advanced 1 (Age 14+)
150 guided learning hours + 175 additional learning hours
Advanced 2 (Age 15+)
150 guided learning hours + 225 additional learning hours
Solo Seal (Age 15+)
The highest level, focused on performance. Entry requires a Distinction at Advanced 2.
Guided learning hours include vocational and pointe classes. Additional learning may include graded ballet classes, ballet strength and conditioning, technique classes, private lessons, ballet workshops, and associate programmes.
