DUNBAR SCHOOL OF DANCE
Terms & Conditions for Students and Parents/Guardians
1. Registration and Acceptance
- A registration form must be completed before attending any classes, workshops, or performances.
- Parents/guardians must provide accurate personal, contact, and medical information and update any changes promptly.
- By registering, families agree to these Terms and Conditions and the DSD Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy.
2. Attendance, Punctuality & Absences
- Students are expected to attend all scheduled classes. Teachers and the school owner maintain attendance registers for safety and record-keeping.
- Parents/guardians must ensure children are collected promptly after class.
- DSD is not responsible for children outside of class times, including at Hallhill Sports Centre or outside the Spott Road studio.
- Children must not be left unattended, nor supervised by bar staff or other unauthorised persons.
- Teachers will assist students moving between consecutive classes, but overall supervision remains the responsibility of parents/guardians.
- Watching instead of participating counts as attendance and is non-refundable.
- All absences must be reported to the school via email: info@dunbarschoolofdance.co.uk
3. Payments & Fees
- Termly fees must be paid by the first day of term.
- Fees are pro-rated only when joining after the term begins.
- No refunds are given for non-attendance.
- For cancelled classes, DSD will attempt to reschedule. If rescheduling is not possible, an account credit will be issued—no refunds.
- Refunds or credits are issued as account credits unless a student is permanently leaving.
- Payments must be made by bank transfer (unless paying monthly), using the invoice number as reference.
- DSD may remove a student from class if fees remain unpaid after the start of term.
- If a class is cancelled due to teacher sickness, public health issues, or unforeseen events, DSD will attempt to reschedule. No refunds will be issued.
4. Student Conduct
Students are expected to:
- Follow teacher instructions;
- Treat others respectfully;
- Participate safely and responsibly;
- Avoid disruptive or unsafe behaviour.
Bullying, verbal abuse, or inappropriate conduct may result in suspension or removal.
5. Parent/Guardian Conduct
Parents/guardians are expected to:
- Treat staff, volunteers, and students respectfully;
- Support the school’s policies;
- Ensure children are prepared for class;
- Communicate concerns respectfully and promptly.
Aggressive or inappropriate behaviour may result in termination of enrolment.
6. Health, Safety & Medical Requirements
- Parents/guardians must inform DSD of any medical conditions, allergies, or physical limitations.
- Appropriate dance clothing and footwear must be worn.
- Dance involves a risk of minor injury; parents/guardians accept this by registering.
- First aid is provided by trained staff when required, with parents/guardians notified of any incidents.
- All injuries—including those sustained outside class—and any changes to a student’s physical condition must be reported via email: info@dunbarschoolofdance.co.uk
7. Safeguarding & Child Protection
- DSD is committed to safeguarding and follows its Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy.
- Parents/guardians must ensure contact and medical details are kept up to date, report any welfare concerns, and support all safeguarding measures.
- Students are encouraged to speak to staff if they feel unsafe or have worries.
8. Photography & Media
- Parental consent will always be obtained before using student images for promotional or demonstrative purposes.
- Photos or videos may be used on the DSD website and social media platforms.
- Consent may be withdrawn at any time by contacting the school.
- Any recordings taken on personal devices must be transferred securely to DSD and deleted afterwards.
- Footage for choreography, exams, or internal purposes is stored securely and deleted when no longer needed.
9. Transport & Off-Site Activities
- Parents/guardians are responsible for transporting students to and from all classes and events.
- Staff may supervise children when moving between consecutive classes, but responsibility remains with parents/guardians.
- Parental consent will be required for any trips, competitions, or external activities.
10. Cancellation & Withdrawal
- Withdrawal from classes must be submitted in writing.
- Fees are non-refundable unless otherwise agreed in writing by DSD.
- DSD may suspend or remove a student for breaches of these Terms or safeguarding policies.

- Uphold safety, safeguarding, and behaviour policies;
- Respect staff, volunteers, and students;
- Ensure punctual collection and appropriate supervision of children;
- Adhere to DSD’s fee, attendance, and refund policies;
